Honda Has a Fit for the Third Time

By Bill McLauchlan

It doesn’t stretch the bounds of credibility think that on any given day, in any given week, in any given Honda showroom across the country you’re likely to run across both first-time and seasoned car buyers.

Less often, some of those more seasoned shoppers will indicate that their next car purchase is likely to be their last. Their decision might be influenced by advancing age, declining health, a downsized lifestyle, fixed income limitations or any combination of the above.

Though they may be at opposite ends of the ownership spectrum, they do share some common needs with first-time purchasers. Generally, both buyers are looking for three things: safe and reliable transportation, an affordable price and convenient service.

If that’s the case with anyone out there then keep your eyes peeled next Monday afternoon when Honda will introduce its all-new 2015 Fit model at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

A from-the-ground-up, more advanced, refined and fun-to-drive package, the modestly priced Fit may just fit the bill for all concerned and further extend the cheerful little runabout’s status as the benchmark vehicle in its subcompact car class.

The 2015 Fit (seen above in this teaser shot) builds on the current model’s innovative packaging, flexible cargo capability and fun-to-drive nature with spirited new styling, and an even more spacious and refined interior packed with leading edge connected car technologies. The third-generation Fit should also offer enhanced fuel-efficiency and performance courtesy of its all-new platform and advanced powertrain. Thanks to its unique structural architecture, it’s also expected to earn class-leading safety ratings.

Named a Car and Driver magazine ‘10-Best’ vehicle every model year since its introduction to the North American market for 2007, the Fit remains one of the best-selling Honda vehicles globally. It will be produced for the first time in North America at an all-new plant in Celaya, Mexico.
